Ex-president Trump has once again declared he would urge FIFA to remove upcoming World Cup games from a designated city based on that city's governance, with Boston emerging as the third such city to receive such warnings from the US president. Furthermore, Trump remarked he would evaluate comparable measures against LA for the 2028 Summer Games due to perceived public safety risks.

The comments were made during a press event with Javier Milei, who was at the White House following the revelation of a massive rescue package for the South American country. Near the close of the event, a reporter questioned Trump about a recent unauthorized gathering in Boston where law enforcement were targeted and a patrol car was set on fire. The journalist also asked if such events could cause the loss of hosting duties for the larger football competition.

“I would take them away,” he remarked regarding the World Cup fixtures, set to be held at the Foxborough venue. “Their mayor is poor … they're far-left, and they are taking over parts of Boston. That’s a significant assertion, right?”

Victor Montagliani rebuffed Trump’s assertions when he commented days later at a conference in the UK capital.

“This is FIFA’s tournament, under our authority, FIFA makes such choices,” he stated. “With all due respect to current world leaders, soccer is transcends any individual and football will endure their administration and their policies. That’s the strength of this sport, that it is more significant than any individual and beyond individual states.”

Olympics Threat

During the event, Trump’s reply to a query about Boston extended to a comparable warning regarding the LA Olympic event.

“In case I believed the city was failing to be prepared properly, I would relocate it to a different city if necessary,” Trump stated. “Regarding that event I might have to get a different kind of approval, but we'd take that action.”
